OUR TRAINERS

Alan King, Trainer Alan King

Alan was formally assistant trainer to David Nicholson at Jackdaws Castle before taking over the reins himself in 1999.

Then in the summer of 2000 he moved to the very impressive Barbury Castle establishment where, over the next few years, he cemented himself firmly in the top bracket of trainers. In each of the last 7 seasons he has improved his winners total & the amount of prize money won.

Alan had yet another superb season in 2007-8 winning 128 races & earning a staggering 2.4m in prize money. The star of the show had to be Katchit as he won the Champion Hurdle in typically game style but we must not forget his other Festival winners Old Benny & Nenuphar Collonges, nor other stars such as Halcon Genelardias, Voy Per Ustedes, Franchoek, Blazing Bailey. The list is seemingly endless. Alan is surely a Champion Trainer waiting in the wings.

Alan’s first jockey will again be Robert Choc Thornton. Choc rode over 100 winners last term and is absolutely top class. He will be backed by a first rate team headed by Wayne Hutchinson, Gerard Tumelty, Jack Doyle & emerging talent Charlie Huxley.

We are thrilled to be with Alan for a 5th season. Let’s hope it’s as successful as the previous 4.
